The Sycamore Tree
This stump is all that remains of a 100 year-old Sycamore that once stood in the northwest corner of St. Paul's churchyard. the tree was toppled on September 11th, 2001, when the collapse of the World Trade Center sent tons of debris hurtling towards the church, including a large steel beam from the North Tower. Miraculously, the Chapel's trees shielded it from damage and not a single pane of glass was broken throughout the church. Read more HERE

Study the jagged stump of a sycamore tree that was blown over when the World Trade Center collapsed and may have offered the first line of defense for the chapel, which survived intact.
